Freehand Lettering with Art Pens
Hand lettering has a wonderfully natural, delightfully personal touch. Students will explore multiple styles of block lettering and cursive scripts while working with spacing, slant, varying pen weights, and line heights to convey different moods. We'll cover helpful tips and tricks for planning out spacing, and students will have time to explore and practice before hand lettering the covers of their pocket journals. Students receive a Hand Lettering Starter Kit filled to the brim with the letterly goodies. This workshop is for creative adults of all levels and art styles.
Offered as 2-hour workshop.
"The hand lettering with art pens workshop was just what I needed to feel confident and inspired! Kimberly is so encouraging with her instruction! I appreciated the opportunity to hone my own lettering style, not to copy someone else’s. It was fun to learn the tricks with the gelly roll pen!"

"I thoroughly enjoyed the hand lettering class taught by Kimberly Taylor-Pestell at the Craftcation 2017 conference. I loved that we were all "given permission" to write outside the lines-- above, below, and with variable spacing. As a child, teachers often asked me to take notes, because I had legible handwriting and could stay on the lines. Odd as this might sound, it had never dawned on me before Kimberly’s class to break those rules and try something totally different! She was very interactive with all the students. In addition to providing generic suggestions and feedback to the class as a whole, she gave very personalized comments and suggestions to each person. Because the class provided an opportunity to try out various types of pens and styles of writing, I jotted down a few of my favorites and knew what I wanted to buy after the class to continue practicing. There was really nothing I didn't like about the class--other than that it had to end!"
