Filling Your Cup: A Gentle Exploration in Creativi-tea, hosted by Kimberly Kuniko & Zen Alladina

A cozy, virtual retreat hosted live on Zoom to take some quiet moments for following our creativity in any medium you wish whether it be sketching, writing, collage, tactile arts, photography, etc.

Re-leaf: Filling Your Cup with Creativi-tea is cozy gathering to explore creativity through the process of how we experience tea. A leaf enters hot water, releasing a stream of colors, flavors, and stories. What will you create out of what you discover in your cup of tea? Rustle up a warm beverage of your choice, and join us for Re-Leaf, a virtual creative retreat led by Kimberly Kuniko and Zen Alladina.

If you attended our first edition of this retreat in 2023, you're most welcome to join in again. We're giving the retreat a refresh with new prompts through an autumn lens of connection and togetherness.

All creative mediums are welcome, and your ticket includes a printable coloring sheet to enjoy as we amble through a series of gentle prompts. We'll save a little time at the end for any of us who wish to share our process or explorations + after wrapping up our creative time at 7:30pm PT, we'll keep the Zoom meeting open for all who'd like to enjoy an informal chance to chat or debrief, wrapping up at 8pm PT.

There’s never any pressure to engage more than feels comfortable, and this time is for you to enjoy solo creative time of your own while sharing space with fellow creatives who are doing the same.

YOUR HOSTS // This event is a special collaboration between two artists piecing together their ideas, insights, and creativity to host a mindful, creative space for exploring a meaningful theme while in community with others.

• Kimberly Kuniko (she/her) is a mixed-race Nikkei American illustrator and mixed media collage artist based in what is now known as Los Angeles, California (unceded Tongva land). Her Japanese roots inform her art through her fondness for paper and seeking a balanced detail achieved through intentional restraint. She creates places where words and imagery intersect, seeking out the connections between disparate things and layering stories together. Working out of her home studio, she works in a mix of mediums including illustration and analog collage, which incorporate hand-stitching and found words poetry. She enjoys designing for her stationery brand Lacelit, hosting her Creativity Keepers Club + guided retreats for creatives of all mediums, and facilitating the Dream & Scheme Community for Small Business Owners. • Zen Alladina (she/her) is a South Asian writer, poet, and multidisciplinary creator. Her work draws from (yet dreams beyond) history, reimagining the ancestral to contextualize the speculative. A trained arts facilitator and tea sommelier, she uses tea’s history to inspire pre-colonial re-imagination through her Tea Stories: Creative Workshops. She was the 2022 winner of Toronto Art Bar Poetry‘s Discovery Night, with work published in Room Magazine, Asian American Writers’ Workshop, Solarpunk Magazine, Soap Box Press, and more. • Ticket includes admission to live Zoom session + printable coloring sheet designed by Kimberly & Zen.

• Creatives of all mediums and levels welcome, age 18+. At least 6 registrations are required for the retreat to take place.

• You'll receive an email in the days prior setting the scene for our time together along with a list of suggested materials (applied to your medium) it'd be helpful to have on hand.

• This workshop will take place in a live session through Zoom. Download the Zoom app software to your preferred camera- and mic-enabled device + have stable internet service to participate in the live virtual workshop. Guests will receive an email the day prior with a direct link and instructions on how to access the workshop.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Due to retreat size minimums, we’re unable to offer full refunds on cancellations. However, cancellations made 1 week prior to the workshop can choose between a 50% refund OR a transfer of your registration to a friend (you'll need to supply their contact information so they can receive all class communications). If this class does not meet class size requirements, you will receive a full refund.
