Bookish Backyard Retreat: Find Me at the Library

Saturday, Oct. 24 • 1-4pm +/or Sunday, Oct. 25 • 1-4pm

Join me and my sibling Britt, for 1-2 days of analog art workshops in a backyard retreat where we’ll explore a theme of "Find Me at the Library," celebrating the wonder to be found in books. Working with a variety of source materials including vintage books, print publications, and magazines, we'll weave together a story of our own through word and craft.

Nestled in the peaceful backyard of our family home (where we grew up!), we'll gather amidst trees and greenery with a view of the mountains, we'll gather beneath canopied tables or cozy up on picnic blankets to craft, and share some autumnal refreshments + a bookish game. Each day features a new set of workshops, so you can sign up for both days or pick between the two. See itinerary below.

Please Note: There are 4 steps leading up to the walkway to our backyard.

RETREAT ITINERARY

DAY 1: SATURDAY, Oct. 24 • 1-4pm

• Found Words Collage Postcard Design // Explore found words poetry collage working with bookish source materials from Kimberly's personal repurposed materials stash. Assemble a short poem or phrase on top of your collage, and Kimberly will turn your art into a set of 5 printed postcards of your design, shipped directly to you following the workshop!

• Autumnal Refreshments + Bookworm Game
  

• Literary Pumpkins + Paper Flowers // Learn to craft pumpkins from aged yellow pages.
  

• Each participant will leave with a soul full of words and a goodie bag of bookish surprises.
  

DAY 2: SUNDAY, Oct. 25 • 1-4pm

• Paper Embroidery Library Card Pockets // Choose from several templates designed by Kimberly to embroider your very own library card pocket to affix into a beloved book. Pick from a variety of date l stamp library cards to slide into the pocket, and you'll be all set the next time you want to loan it out to a fellow bookworm!

• Pop-Out Book Vase + Paper Flowers // Learn to fold a book into a 3D standing vase to hold paper, fabric, dried, or live flora.
  

• Each participant will leave with a soul full of words and a goodie bag of bookish surprises.

WORKSHOP POLICIES

• Registration closes 12 hours before the workshop date.
  

• Workshops begin start promptly at the designated start time to make the most of our time. To ensure a smooth start, please arrive 5-10 minutes early to have time to park and walk in. Please Note: There are 4 steps leading up to the walkway to our backyard.
  

• Retreat participants must complete an Activity Waiver (link included on registration form).
  

• 8 registrations needed for workshop to take place. Due to class size minimums, I'm unable to offer full refunds on cancellations. However, for cancellations made 1 week prior to the workshop, you transfer your registration to a another workshop currently offered or to a friend who can attend (you'll need to supply their contact information so they can receive all class communications). Lacelit Studio reserves the right to reschedule a workshop due to insufficient registration numbers or unforeseen weather or emergency circumstances. If you cannot make the rescheduled date, you'll be issued a full refund.
