Guided Creative Retreat: A Return to Self - Remembering & Reconnecting with Creativity
date & time
A retreat for taking some quiet moments to follow our creative curiosities, focusing on any medium you'd like to explore whether it be drawing, painting, writing, collage, tactile arts, or crafting, and using materials you have on hand at home. Each guided retreat is akin to going on a solo retreat of your own while in the company of fellow creatives who are doing the same.
THEME // A Return to Self: Remembering & Reconnecting with Creativity // For this reflective session, we'll walk through a series of gentle prompts and exercises to remember, rediscover, and reconnect with pieces of ourselves that may have become dormant or temporarily misplaced over the years, or perhaps while making our way through this global pandemic, necessitating shifts into unexpected roles and routines. This retreat is all about a return to self: remembering pieces of yourself, unfolding those sensibilities again, and inviting them back through creativity.
We'll save a little time at the end for any who wish to share their makings or writings with the group, and retreat participants will also have access to a private forum hosted here on my website to continue the conversation and share in-progress or finished work for group feedback, post-retreat.
YOUR HOSTS // This special retreat is a collaboration between Kimberly Taylor-Pestell and Cole Montgomery who are partnering together to design a mindful, creative space in which to explore a theme that's meaningful to each of them. A Return to Self: Remembering & Reconnecting with Creativity has been designed through a collaborative process of piecing together ideas, insights, and creativity of two artists to share with their community.
Kimberly Taylor-Pestell (she/her) is the Nikkei hapa artist and designer behind Lacelit, a paper goods company featuring endearing illustrations, sentimental turns of phrase, and clever wordplay. She also loves hosting cozy, virtual Guided Creative Retreats fostering creative exploration, imagination, and storytelling in all its forms while holding space for meaningful connection between creatives of all mediums. Cole Montgomery (he/him) is an arts educator and photographer with over eleven years’ experience in helping nonprofits tell their stories and equipping people to move into greater opportunities through creativity and artmaking.
