Guided Creative Retreat: Spooky

Guided Creative Retreats are a way to hold space for nurturing our creativity with a new theme each month, engaging with whatever medium that feels energizing or restorative on the given day whether it be writing, drawing, painting, collage, fiber arts, music composition, or crafting, using materials you have on hand at home. There's never any pressure to socially engage more than you wish, and each guided retreat is like holding some space to meet with your creativity while in the company of fellow creatives who are doing the same.

OCTOBER'S THEME: Spooky // Working in any creative medium you wish, join me live on Zoom for playful exploration of the spooky, fantastical, and mysterious, as we wander through a series of prompts from literary works, illustration, photography, and moody color palettes to inspire our creative play and spark ideas. But don't worry, prompt imagery won't get too scary. Think spookiness meets whimsy!

With all that's going on in the world right now, it's so understandable that many of us are feeling overwhelmed as hearts ache and worries hover. But, I believe that creativity and togetherness can be a balm, helping us to not only feel less alone, but create some good in the world. Guided Creative Retreats are for holding space to take a creative breath together and engage with our imaginations in gentle ways. ᡣ𐭩 Each retreat is akin to going on a solo retreat of your own while in the company of fellow creatives who are doing the same.

We'll save a little time at the end for any who wish to share their makings or writings with the group, and retreat participants will also have access to a private forum hosted here on my website to continue the conversation and share in-progress or finished work for group feedback post-retreat.

You'll receive an email in the days prior setting the scene for our time together along with a list of suggested materials (applied to your medium) it'd be helpful to have on hand.

This workshop will take place in a live session through Zoom, which allows us to interact face-to-face in an online classroom setting through video, audio, and chat box. Download the Zoom app software to your preferred camera- and mic-enabled device + have stable internet service to participate in the live virtual workshop. Students will receive an email from me the day prior with a direct link and instructions on how to access the workshop the following day.
