Growing up hapa in Los Angeles, we grew up on my grandma's Japanese curry. I remember her stirring potatoes, carrots, and chicken on the stove along with the contents of a classic gold-and-orange box filled with an aromatic curry mix that signaled a savory meal ahead. Served over a piping hot white rice paddled into a bowl straight from the rice cooker never gets old.
