in stitches

Photo of Kimberly's hand holding a knitting project–a cowl scarf of deep purple and grey-speckled yarn being knit on the round.

At week's end, energy dims to a gentle quietude in the rhythm of stitches. I knit, knit, knit, and marvel to see how each movement makes something grow over time. Even as I slow and exhale, a newness grows within my hands.

In knitting, I have found a sweetened metric for slowing down.
