she and we

Kimberly's hand painting in her kraft paper spiral sketch book: "Women, if the soul of the nation is to be saved, I believe you must become its soul." - Coretta Scott King

To think of the many women who have impacted me--both loved ones and strangers, those present today and in our histories--is to be uplifted. Their stories, challenges and conscious choices evoke in me a desire to grow, to create, to act, and to live and love more truly. Today, is International Women's Day, a global day to commemorate the struggles of women's rights and to celebrate the many social, economic, cultural and political contributions of women, which have often gone unnoticed, unsung and unwritten.

I have always loved how the beauty of vines grow on and on. Their perseverance makes them difficult to cut away or hold back, and their determination to reach light is fervent. Women are ever-growing, ever-green. The life, strength, passion, bravery and light they carry does not cease.

Today through Sunday, I'm tucking away two free postcards and postage stamps in with every purchase of the Ever-Green art print. Use your goodies to pen an encouraging message of appreciation to a woman who has shown you kindness and guidance or been a source of strength and inspiration to you. Here are two meaningful ways to celebrate through action:

Girl Up logo

Girl Up An adolescent girl campaign through the United Nations Foundation engages girls to take action, and advocates for awareness and funds to reach girls living in places where it is hardest to be a girl.

Pledge for Parity logo

#PledgeforParity A commitment to helping women and girls achieve their ambitions, challenge conscious and unconscious bias, call for gender-balanced leadership, value women and men's contributions equally, and create inclusive flexible cultures.

Celebrating women everywhere...
